The Transportation Division of the Mt. Juliet Public Works Department encompasses many different aspects surrounding mobility in the community.
Responsibilities
With engineering and maintenance of transportation-related facilities under one roof, responsibilities include overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of all transportation-related projects within the City. This includes City-led construction projects such as new roadways, roadway improvements, traffic signals, sidewalks, and greenways. Included is the review and approval of development-related projects to ensure they are incorporated properly into the City’s transportation system.
The Transportation Division also oversees the City’s transportation planning documents, design details, and construction specifications. With the infrastructure in place, the City’s maintenance crews are responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of the public facilities. Maintenance activities include repaving and repair of City streets, sidewalk repair, signal maintenance, street signs, sweeping, and right-of-way clearing.
