Plumbing system for this project will consist of domestic water, sanitary sewer, and propane gas systems.
Piping, fixtures and equipment for these systems will be designed to serve the new building point 5’-0” outside the building. At this point, the Site Utility Contractor will make utility connections.
Plumbing systems design will be in accordance all local codes. This includes, but is not limited to the International Plumbing Code, 2018 Edition, International Fuel Gas Code, 2018 Edition and the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The building will require a new 1 1/4-inch domestic cold-water supply with RPBP to supply the building and all the new fixtures displayed in the preliminary drawings.
The building will require a new 4” sanitary waste.
All plumbing fixtures and equipment requiring sanitary waste, storm drainage, and vent connections will be served by a gravity system.
Slope for sanitary waste systems and storm drainage 3-inch and larger will be a minimum of 1/8-inch per foot. Sanitary waste piping drainage piping 2-inches and smaller will be sloped at ¼-inch per foot. Sanitary branches and mains will be designed to accommodate peak flow rates for full occupancy utilizing these rates of fall.
A 2 PSI gas system will be provided to serve the new building. Pressure reducing valves will be required at each equipment connection and the vent from each valve will be routed outside the building. From the meter is acceptable to reduce the pressure to 7”-11” w.c.
B/C. Plumbing– Division 22
Work includes labor, materials, tools, and services for a complete installation of equipment and systems contained in the contract documents. Principle features of the work include:
a. Plumbing systems and related piping.
b. Rough-in installation, installation of equipment and final connection to equipment.
Domestic hot water, domestic hot water recirculating, and domestic cold water will be Type L, hard copper, or Pex Piping (or equal) with brass fittings. Type K, rolled, soft copper piping is acceptable for all piping installed under floor slabs, and Type M, hard copper piping is acceptable for non-pressurized drain, waste, and vent piping. Sweat type, wrought copper fittings will be used for installation of all copper piping systems. Dielectric connections must be provided at all unions of dissimilar metals.
Schedule 40 PVC will be used for 2” and larger sanitary waste and sanitary vent piping inside the buildings, and for below grade sanitary piping.
Propane gas piping will be Schedule 40 black steel. Gas piping at 2 P.S.I. shall have welded joints. At 7”-11” w.c. the piping will be schedule 40 black steel threaded pipe.
Schedule 40 PVC will be used for all Sanitary waste, sanitary vent piping inside the building, and below grade applications.
All plumbing products will be manufactured in accordance with PDI (Plumbing Drainage Institute) guidelines. Components listed in this section shall be installed in accordance the International Plumbing Code, 2018 Edition.
Water heaters shall be certified to be manufactured in strict accordance with ASME and UL requirements.
Plumbing fixtures shall be commercial grade, complete with all valves, trim and mounting hardware for complete installation.
The winning bidder will be responsible for pulling the necessary permits and scheduling the inspections. The City of Mt.Juliet cover all permit cost.
